Salary: £28,132 to £32,590 per annum
Role: To conduct research to increase the capabilities and the level of safety of unmanned vehicles using statistics and knowledge based approaches.
Term: Fixed-term until 29 February 2016 with a possible of 6 month extension.
Department: Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering, Loughborough University
The project is being undertaken by a number of schools at Loughborough University, although the post holder will be based in the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering. A higher first degree in engineering, mathematics, or computer science, experience in conducting research related to unmanned vehicles or robotics (ground or aerial), and an ability to design and develop situational awareness and decision making algorithms is essential. A PhD related to unmanned vehicles, experience of developing and verifying situational awareness, decision making, sensor fusion (including computer vision) or Bayesian theory related algorithms for vehicle applications, strong programme skills, and system integration skills for integrating hardware and software for ground or aerial vehicles is desirable.
