PhD student, Owen McAree, won the first Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Innovation Award on 20th September 2012.
Owen's work on autonomous terminal area operations for UASs, sponsored by the EPSRC and BAE Systems, was shortlisted from a number of abstracts and he was invited to present at the RAeS annual UAS conference. Owen was one of three PhD students shortlisted to present and he was voted the winner by the conference delegates consisting of UAS researchers, operators, manufactures and regulators.
